Disney World Deluxe Resort Hotels are the cream of the crop. They offer unique theming, luxurious lodging, some great locations, and fantastic amenities. The most expensive hotel among the Deluxe Resort tier is Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa — but is the price worth it?

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa opened in 1988 along Seven Seas Lagoon as Disney World’s fifth resort hotel and has remained a standout since. Elegant, scenic, and famous, the Grand Floridian is a AAA 4 Diamond and Mobil 4-Star recipient, so it’s no wonder the resort can get so expensive.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

The Grand Floridian is styled after turn-of-the-century Victorian architecture and features nearly 900 rooms. There are 20 different room categories, and a stay will range anywhere between $757 to well over $2,000 per night, depending on room type, availability, and time of year.

The high cost of staying here begs the question, “Is staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa worth it?” Let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons!

PROS

The first major pro of staying at the Grand Floridian is the location.

The Monorail at Disney’s Grand Floridian

The Grand Floridian is located along the Monorail line and the next stop is Magic Kingdom, which is also accessible by boat and a walkway. EPCOT is also easily reachable via the Monorail.

The Grand Floridian, like other Disney World hotels, offers bus service to the other parks, water parks, and Disney Springs.

Another pro is its restaurants!

Queen Victoria Room at Victoria & Albert’s

The Grand Floridian has a plethora of FANTASTIC restaurants to choose from!

Victoria & Albert’s could arguably be the BEST restaurant in all of Disney World! It features a menu selected daily by the chef and is perhaps the most elegant dining experience in all of Disney World.

Citricos is also an upscale and expensive restaurant with Mediterranean cuisine. 1900 Park Fare is a character buffet restaurant that has been closed for several years, but it reopening with some big changes in 2024. If you’re looking for a waterside setting for dinner, be sure to check out Narcoossee’s!

Looking at casual dining and quick service, the Grand Floridian Cafe features Southern cooking, salads, and sandwiches for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Gasparilla Island Grill is a quick-service restaurant, and Enchanted Rose is a lounge on the second story themed to Beauty and the Beast.

Finally, the Garden View Tea Room on the first level was famous for its daily afternoon tea and princess tea with Princess Aurora several times weekly, but it has been closed since 2020.

Overall, when examining the pros, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the luxury and great amenities and entertainment that come with staying at the Grand Floridian

Piano Player at the Grand Floridian

A five-story grand lobby, live piano player, resort spa, views of Seven Seas Lagoon, and two pools (one that is open 24/7) lend to that notion of luxury lodging. Offerings like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (which is still temporarily unavailable) and arcade games are also great for families. The Grand Floridian is also an incredibly festive place to stay during the holidays!

CONS

We’re going to keep this short and sweet — there are two major cons to staying at the Grand Floridian right now. One is super obvious while the other is temporary, but has lingered for quite some time.

Grand Floridian

Staying here is beyond expensive when you compare the pricing to nearby and similar Disney World hotels. If you’re on a budget, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa simply is not the resort for you. When there are so many lodging options and all are available at a cheaper price, you should only consider the Grand Floridian if you have the means or if staying here is on your bucket list.

The Grand Floridian

The other major con is that Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is still undergoing refurbishment. Guests can see and hear construction around the resort and lobby during daytime hours. Of course, this refurbishment doesn’t affect the price and you’ll still be paying more by staying here versus any other Disney World hotel.

Grand Floridian

At the end of the day, the choice of whether or not to stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa ultimately falls to you. We absolutely love this resort, but we also acknowledge that there are far cheaper and more suitable options for families on a budget.
